Hey! I’m Arina👋🏻, Operations Lead at NewNew.
I’m from Toronto, Canada, and I joined the company earlier this year. Outside of work, I’m a super active person. I love hiking, biking, camping, and exploring new places…that is, if the Canadian weather allows it. 🥶
So, how did I end up at NewNew?
I was a Financial Advisor at one of the biggest banks in Canada, and I’ve always been the type of person who tries to optimize processes to improve efficiency and save time. I’d always present ideas at work on how we could change the bank’s ancient and outdated procedures, but those ideas would never come to life. The banking world is full of red tape - which, to be fair, is not unusual for a big organization.
I couldn't make a difference no matter how hard I tried, so it gave me an inkling to make a change and join a more malleable, fast-paced, and progressive environment…
The stars aligned perfectly when I got a LinkedIn message from Jenn asking whether I was interested in a Talent Sourcer position at the company...
I’ll be honest and say that I thought it must have been a mistake at first. I didn't have any experience working as a Talent Sourcer and my previous role revolved around banking and finance. I knew everything about mortgages and investments, but I didn’t know the first thing about how talent sourcing worked. Nevertheless, after researching NewNew, I realized that I couldn’t miss this fantastic opportunity, and I decided to take the interview.
My excitement only grew as I moved through the interview process. I could tell that everyone at NewNew works really hard to accomplish a common goal.
I was surprised by how the co-founders, Courtne and Fil, never tried to sugarcoat anything during my initial conversation with them. They were both incredibly passionate about what they were building. They mentioned how quickly things pivot at NewNew and that nothing is ever set in stone. This was exactly what I was looking for.
When I got an offer to join, I accepted it without any hesitation!
My initial excitement has only grown stronger the longer I’ve been here.
Courtne and Fil weren’t lying when they said things move fast here. One month into my Talent Sourcer role, I was given an exciting opportunity to transition into an Operations Lead role. This experience is incomparable to any other position I’ve ever had before and it’s truly been life-changing.
We’re building an incredibly unique platform that is unlike anything else on the market and all of us burn the midnight oil to make a difference.
Working at NewNew is a crazy ride. You never know what tomorrow will bring, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. 🚀
